About Me

My name is Emily Schauer and I am a recently returned Peace Corps Volunteer. I served in Senegal, West Africa, as a Community Economic Development volunteer in the small regional capital of Kaffrine, in the middle of the country. There I worked with local schools and business owners to teach basic concepts of business management.

Since returning to the US, I have relocated to Seattle, WA where I have begun navigating the exciting and challenging realm of work, friends, socializing, and school.

I am enrolled as a candidate for an Editing Certificate from the University of Washington, upon which I intend to build my career as a prolific and celebrated editor. But for now, I am still working out the details of grocery shopping.

I am a part-time freelance editor, and  am also currently the ‘women’s and causes’ writer at Worldette.com, an international travel magazine. This means that I focus on people and organizations that make a difference in the world.

Having grown up in the Northwest, I am a lover of outdoor activities like hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and snowboarding. I am a voracious reader and have an incurable itch to see the world and write about it. I love to take my time in new places, diving into local cultures and customs to see a side of life that most tourists will never observe.

This is my personal website, along with a blog documenting the entirety of my Peace Corps service. I invite you to explore it thoroughly!
